Jordan Beasley
Jordan was born and raised in Hammond, Indiana and has wanted to be in radio since he was a kid. Before coming to WICR in the fall of 2011, he spent two years working for WJOB-AM 1230 in Hammond. He has experience in interviewing, producing, and being an on-air talent, as well doing play-by-play and color commentary for sporting events.
Christen Beltz
Christen is a sophomore at the University of Indianapolis majoring in communication with an emphasis in Electronic Media and a minor in theatre. She has been with WICR for two years as an air personality and has been the station’s traffic director since May 2011. Christen is also an assistant coach for Code Red, a high school and middle school competitive dance team.
Charles Benberry
Charles began doing radio sports webcasts in Indianapolis during his junior year in high school. He worked for the hall-of-fame sportscaster Paul Condry calling football and basketball games for Arsenal Tech High School. Since coming to WICR in 2011, Charles has learned the studio side of broadcasting and works on WICR-FM/HD 1 and WICR-HD 3 as an air personality, while also providing play-by-play and commentary for UIndy sports.
Colin Bowles
Colin comes from Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis where he began learniung radio at WRFT-FM. He won first place for radio play-by-play in the Indiana Association of School broadcasters high school competition his senior year at FC. Colin was also a three-year letterman basketball for the Flashes. In his first year at WICR, he has continued broadcasting sports on the radio and was selected as the station’s broadcast technician in January 2012.
Corbin Byers
Corbin is in his first year as an on-air personality for WICR-FM/HD1 and WICR-HD3 and has also worked in the station’s sales department. His passion for radio is evident and Corbin says his years of working in the fast food industry in North Carolina have prepared him well for radio, especially if something goes wrong.
Jared Boomer
Jared is a freshman at the University of Indianapolis studying Communication. He is relatively new to radio having started on the air on WICR in the fall of 2011. He also has become one of WICR sportscasters providing play-by-play and color commentary for UIndy basketball. In his spare time, Jared likes to go to sporting events, watch movies and read.
Tyson Conrady
Tyson is from Syracuse, Indiana and has lived in a number of different areas of the state. He also lived in Florida for a while during and during that time he worked for the Walt Disney Company. Tyson comes to the University of Indianapolis following completion of an associate’s degree in broadcast sales at Vincennes University. He has prior experience with radio stations in Syracuse, Warsaw, Goshen, and Shelbyville. His main interest in radio is engineering.
Timothy Magnus
Tim is beginning his second career in life and doing so as a student at UIndy where he is a communication major with a minor in music recording technology. Tim is retired from the military and has now spent more than a year learning on WICR. Tim is a founding member and sang with the Southern Gospel Group “Crossroads”. He is married and the father of seven children. Two of his sons also attend UIndy.
Cassidy Miller
Cassidy is a senior communication major at the University of Indianapolis. She has worked in radio for more than three years now. At WICR, Cassidy has held positions as the station’s music director, production director, and promotions director. She has worked for Emmis Communications the past two years as a member of the promotions staff. Cassidy has also completed an internship with the Indiana Broadcasters Association.
Chelsea Niccum
Chelsea is in her third year of learning at WICR. She is currently the station’s music director and the program director for WICR’s HD-3 channel. Previously, Chelsea was WICR’s production director. As a music major at the University of Indianapolis with a concentration in music technology and recording, she plays the clarinet, saxophone, and flute. Chelsea performs regularly with UIndy’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Handbell Ensemble, and Flute Choir.
Samantha Stratton
Samantha Stratton is a junior communication major at the University of Indianapolis studying radio and television with a minor in music. Samantha is currently WICR’s operations manager. Previously, she held the position of traffic director with the station. Samantha currently works part-time in radio for Entercom Communications in Indianapolis as an air talent and promotions assistant. She previously worked in similar part-time positions for Emmis Communications.
Maya Tapplar
Maya is a junior communication major at the University of Indianapolis. She began learning radio in high school at the Walker Career Center’s WEDM-FM. Maya is in her third year on WICR. Outside of the radio station, she helps plan events for students as a member of the Campus Program Board.
Brent Terhune
Brent is a senior studying communication at the University of Indianapolis. He has been heard on WICR for three years and can be seen performing stand-up comedy regularly at a number of local and regional venues. Brent’s comedy has been featured on Comcast, Indy Stand up.com, Rooftop Comedy.com, and in Nuvo. Staying with his love of comedy, Brent completed an internship with the Bob & Tom Show on the Premiere Radio Networks.
Kyle Weidner
Kyle is a communication major and a graphic design minor at the University of Indianapolis. He has been learning on WICR for nearly two years having spent a semester as the station’s production director. Kyle is a diehard supporter of music on the local and national level and you can see him frequently at shows in Central Indiana
